Justin S. Schultz MA, LMHC

I am Justin Schultz, a licensed mental health therapist in the state of Washington. I offer both in person and virtual therapy. I have experience working with a wide range of mental health struggles from individuals who suffer with schizophrenia, post traumatic stress disorder to individuals struggling with finding direction and meaning in their life. Therapy can be a difficult step to take however, it takes a lot of strength to admit maybe we need help and guidance from a professional. To see if I might be a good fit for you, see the About Me section below.

About

About Me:

When I first meet with clients or tell people I am a therapist, I will often be asked, "what lead you to become a therapist?" I became a therapist because I know what it's like to go through a tough season of life, and not have people to lean on for support, or to feel like you can't share what is going on due to shame and guilt. When this is our situation we can struggle with having hope or motivation to make changes, or even believe things can't change.  So, one reason I am a therapist is because I want people to have someone who they can lean on for support and walk along side them through whatever struggle they may have. I also feel being a therapist is in my DNA; I have always been someone that wants to be there for others. As a therapist, I don't pretend that I have my life all figured out and that I never have moments of feeling down and depressed or anxious. I believe we are all people and all experience these feelings however, it is what we do with it once we are aware of it that can help or hinder us.

Education and Experience:

I have a bachelor of arts in Psychology from Eastern Washington University. While I was working on my bachelors, I volunteered for a suicide hotline in Spokane, WA, where I gained a lot of experience sitting with people who are really struggling with life and feeling like there is no hope. I then earned my masters degree in clinical mental health counseling from George Fox University.

After graduating with my masters in clinical mental health counseling I worked at local mental health agencies in Vancouver WA as an associate counselor to obtain hours to become a licensed therapist. In 2020 I decided it was time to take on an adventure of starting my own private practice.

Background:

I am originally from the Pacific Northwest and have grown up enjoying the many activities that one can engage in here. On my days off I will be out hiking with my dog, a basset hound Cooper, skiing in the winter, enjoying a nice cup of coffee, Kayaking and or engaging in other activities that involve being outside. I love the PNW and the natural beauty we are surrounded by!

Services offered

Services:

I offer individual mental health counseling to adults 18 and older, both in person and virtually. Our first appointment will be an intake appointment which is where we will get to know each other, and you can tell me what is brining you into counseling. All sessions are about 50-60 minutes. My fees are $200 for the intake appointment and $150 for each appointment afterwards.

Insurance:

I am currently in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Healthcare Management Administrators, and Pacific Source.  If your insurance plan covers out of network providers I can provide you with a super bill to submit to your insurance where you may be able to be reimbursed for services. For those who may not want to use their insurance or may not have insurance, I can offer a sliding scale fee that will be determined before our initial appointment.

Specialties: I enjoy working with individuals who are currently struggling with social anxiety, generalized anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, life changes.
